Monroe series 1 has been released as a region 1 DVD (USA / Canada) by Acorn Media. In addition, those in the US and Canada can watch episode 1 free on the Acorn Media website until April 1st!

While Monroe 2 continues filming, it seems there is a new director on board - Damon Thomas. According to Twitter, Monroe will be entered into this year’s Rose d’Or Festival.

Tom’s amazing casting news seemed to explode over the internet in the last couple of days. Articles mentioning Da Vinci’s Demons can be found on all the major online news and entertainment sites, including Reuters, Variety, EW, and Deadline.com. 

Digital Spy have posted details of new cast members who have joined the new series of Monroe, currently filming in Leeds.  

Tracy-Ann Oberman has signed upto play the new nurse specialist Lizzie Clapham, who looks after the patients’ emotional care. Drop the Dead Donkey star Neil Pearson has also joined the cast as head of Clinical Services and Monroe’s manager Alistair Gillespie, while Five Daughters actress Lisa Millet will play “acerbic” nurse Jill McHeath.

They also reveal some new storylines, which include Tom’s character. Read it in full on the Digital Spy website.

The new series of Monroe is expected to pick up 18 months after the first, with Monroe facing challenges from his ex-wife and son. Bremner and Shepherd (Tom Riley) are dealing with an “unplanned development” which could affect their careers and their relationship, while Monroe’s trainees Daniel (Luke Allen-Gale) and Kitty (Michelle Asante) are fighting for the role of registrar. 

The Monroe Facebook Page just updated with news about filming the second series for ITV.

So the Monroe gang are getting together in the New Year to start filming. We’re all very excited!

Mammoth Screen have updated their website to include the new series, while designers Brenmoor recently tweeted about creating patient ID wristbands for it.
